The Raider Track and Field team finished 2nd in a Quad meet on Wednesday night at Hillcrest HS. The guys totaled 160.5 points through 15 events scored. The 200 meters and 3200 meter races were omitted due to low weather temperatures.
Evan Prince paced the Raiders on the evening by winning the 800 and 1600 meter races. He also ran the anchor leg on one of the 4×400 relay teams.
TJ Garlington finished 2nd in the Shot Put with a personal record (PR) throw of 40′-9″. TJ also placed 4th in the Discus (101’3″). Zy Todd and Waldrick Burnside placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively in the 110 meter high hurdles. Chase Gambrell and Tye Roberson placed 1st and 2nd in the 100 meter dash. Both Gambrell and Roberson are first year track athletes. In the Long Jump, Stephen McBeth finished second and Ty Young placed 3rd. Young also placed 4th in the Triple Jump. The 4×100 Relay placed 3rd (Todd, McBeth, Zacariah Miller, Roberson).
The team will return to action Saturday, March 9th at Eastside HS in Greenville as they will take part in the Chick-Fil-A Invitational. The Raiders first home meet of the season will be Tuesday, March 12. The Raiders will take on Clinton, Abbeville, and McCormick. Track action is scheduled to start at 5:00 pm.
