Hickory Tavern Lady Panthers defeated Clinton Middle White 39 to 26. The Lady Panthers led 22 to 10 at halftime. Leading scorers for HT were Ranyia Jackson 20, Navia Blanding 1, Macayle Revis 6, Taylor Hiott 2, and Kimyah Foggie 10. The Lady Panthers were led in rebounding by Navia Blanding with 14 rebounds. The Lady Panthers are 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Little River Conference.

Game Recap

The Laurens Raiders hosted their cross town rival, the Clinton Red Devils. The Raiders started off the game on a 6-0 run to shake the Red Devils up. Clinton bounced back with consecutive 3 pointers by JD Payne to tie the game up. Ty Foster’s defensive leadership took over and the Raiders took a 32-24 lead at halftime. During the third quarter, the Raiders were battling as the Red Devils cut the Raider lead to 3 points. Senior leadership from Josh Greene and Justin Anderson helped the Raiders as they came off the bench and sparked the team offensively with a combination of 22 points. Carson Todd and Ryan Dacre sealed the game by owning the boards and knocking down crucial free throws as the Red Devils looked on.

Game Recap

We let our nerves get the best of us tonight. We started off very slow and never recovered. Byrnes jumped out to an 18-5 first quarter and kept rolling from there. They scored in double digits every quarter while we only scored in double digits one quarter (4th quarter).

The Lady Raiders were led in scoring by senior, Cali Heisey with 14 points followed by 8th grader, Qua Fortson with 7 points and freshman, Sandajah Vance with 3 points. Junior, Kenaja Burnside, freshman, Jayla Mosley, senior, Alexus Espinoza, sophomore, Ashanti Conway, and Freshman, Hannah Wiles all had 2 points. Aija Davis, sophomore , chipped in one point.

The Lady Raiders will play our county rivals, the Clinton Red Devils this Friday night.

Game Recap

We started the game off with high energy, led by the hot hand of freshman, Sandajah Vance, who had 13 points in the first half; however, as the first half went on we had some trouble on defense and got into foul trouble early. We led at the half 22-21.

Second half we came out more focused and scored 17 points in the third quarter to Clinton’s 2 points. We defeated the Red Devils 50-36. Sandajah Vance led the scoring with 16 points followed by senior, Cali Heisey with 15 points. 8th grader Qua Fortson had 10 points and junior, Kenaja Burnside had 5 points. Senior, Portland Wallace chipped in 2 points while freshman Jayla Mosley and Hannah Wiles both had 1 point a piece. Kenaja Burnside and Hannah Wiles also did an awesome job on the boards.

The Lady Raiders will play Spartanburg next Tuesday night.

Game Recap

The Laurens Raiders hosted the Byrnes Rebels on Tuesday night. It was the home opener for the Raiders and they did not disappoint. Byrnes raced out to an 11-0 start, but the Raiders calmed down and answered with a 3 by Josh Green and a pull up jumper by Christian Anderson. The Byrnes Rebels used a full court press to create turnovers in the first quarter and jumped out to a 19-10 lead.

The second quarter saw the pace pick up and the Raiders find their scoring. Led by the balanced scoring of Ty Foster, Justin Anderson, and Green the Raiders were able to put 22 points on the board in the second quarter. The Rebels were able to keep pace by earning free throws and offensive rebounds. The Raiders would win the second quarter by 1. The Rebels carried a 40-32 lead at the half.

The third quarter saw a much better defensive effort from the Raiders. Laurens was able to force turnovers and tough shots which led to easy transitions buckets. Dee Foster led the Raiders with 8 huge third quarter points. The Raiders cut the Rebels lead to 5 heading into the 4th down 51-48.

In the 4th, the Raiders continued their comeback push. Behind buckets by Justin Anderson, Ty Foster and Dee Foster the Raiders were able to grab the lead late in the quarter. The Rebels would answer and take back the lead with under a minute to play. A huge steal and layin by Justin Anderson would tie the game at 60-60 with 40 seconds to play. Byrnes would convert a tough layup at the rim to grab the lead with 13 seconds left. After a timeout, the Raiders missed a 3 pointer but the miss was rebounded by Dee Foster. Foster would then get fouled hard on a put-back attempt. Foster would make the first free throw but rim out the second. The Rebels grabbed the rebound and ran out the remaining 1 second on the game clock.
