Game Recap

A fast start and some timely offensive rebounds propelled Spartanburg to a win over the Raiders. The Raiders battled all the way back over the next 3 quarters to cut into the lead after each period. In the 4th, the Raiders fought all the way back with full court pressure and had a chance to tie at the end. A Josh Green 3 fell just short and the Raiders lost by one.

Another collective effort was seen from the Raiders. Josh Green was the leading scorer with 16 off the bench. Carson Todd had 11, Dee Foster 10, Christian Anderson 9, Ryan Dacre 8 and Ty Foster with 2.

Game Recap

Sanders girls had a lot of turnovers in the first half, which Wright capitalized on.
During the second half, the girls came out after halftime and played with heart and executed our defensive plan.

Our team is young and I see improvement in individual players and as a team. The team will be at home against Westview in their next outing on Thursday, December 7, 2017. Tipoff is scheduled for approximately 5:00 PM.

Game Recap

On Monday night Laurens Raiders JV Boys team did battle with the Spartanburg Vikings on the hardwood. After a back and forth battle all night, that extended into an extra period, the Raiders were successful in securing a 51-45 victory to pull their record to 2-1 on the year and 1-0 at home.

The first quarter of action saw the Raiders and Vikings go back and forth with the Raiders heading into the 2nd quarter tied at 9. Jamir Booker was able to get the Raiders off to a good start with 5 points in the 1st quarter of action and did a great job of dictating the pace. Landon Ford came in late off the bench and hit a free throw to tie the game up heading into the 2nd quarter.

The 2nd quarter saw the Raiders really ratchet up the defensive intensity as the Raiders were able to hold the Vikings to only 4 points the entire quarter. The Raiders were extremely balanced in the quarter with Dravious Copeland, Jamir Booker, Rob Gilliam, Tre Williams and Amaija Hill all chipping in 2 points a piece. With the defensive intensity up the Raiders were able to go into halftime with a 5 point cushion 18-13.

The halftime break did the Raiders no good as their defense disappeared along with their small lead. The 3rd quarter saw the Raiders get beat by 4 points and go into the 4th with a small 1 point edge.

In the 4th quarter and OT the action and pace really picked up as the teams continued to trade baskets and no team could pull ahead by more than 2 possessions. The Raiders were able to find their way to the charity stripe 10 times in the quarter but were only able to knock down 6 of their shots from the line. The Raiders held 43-40 lead with under 10 seconds to play but a Spartanburg player hit a 3 to tie the game at 43 and send it into overtime.

In overtime, the Raiders, led by their defense, were able to jump out to a quick lead, which they never relinquished. Amaija Hill led the Raiders in the extra period with 5 of the team’s 7 points. In the end, the Raiders’ defense was too much for the Vikings and Laurens was able to pull out a well earned 51-45 victory.

Your Raiders will be back in action this Thursday, December 7th, at home when they take on the Clinton Red Devils with tip-off at approximately 6:45 PM. The Red Devils will be looking to avenge their earlier loss to the Raiders last week.
