Laurens District High School (LDHS) cheerleading squad, are tasked with the job of inspiring others. They must go to great lengths to motivate their Raider teams and fans by cheering at the top of their lungs, doing flips, or even holding each other in the air while stunting.
The LDHS cheerleading squad hosted a youth cheer camp on Thursday, July 11, 2019, to help fundraise and teach aspiring youth the basics of cheerleading. The cheer camp was a resounding success with a turn out of eighty campers. Varsity head coaches Ashley Hall, Debbie Harris, and Erin Patterson were on hand to help alongside their 2019-2020 squad as campers were divided into three rotating groups, jumping, dancing, and cheering.
Coach Patterson said, “ We hope that the young girls learned a lot from this camp but most importantly we hoped they learned that above all cheers, jumps, and dances that teamwork was the most important.”
The camp ended with a magnificent performance for parents and guests to showcase the new skills learned at cheer camp.
