Carson Todd has been selected as the Raider Student-Athlete of the Year for 2017-2018. Todd was one (1) of three (3) finalists for the title. The other two (2) outstanding nominees were Braylen Williams and Tamra Haney. In very close balloting, Todd received 45.8% of the votes cast to win the top honor. District Athletic Director, Ed Murray, said, “All three (3) nominees were deserving candidates and stand as outstanding representatives of our sports programs. We look forward to honoring all of our nominees at a special event next fall.”
Carson Todd Raider Student-Athlete of the Year for 2017-2018 – According to Coach Ryan Walker, “Carson was our second leading scorer (10.3 ppg), leading rebounder (6.3 rpg), and he shot 50% from the field [making one (1) out of every two (2) shots he took]. He played all five (5) positions and was the only player to start every game during the season.” Walker added, “Carson could always be counted on to show up each and every day and give his best effort whether at practice or in a game.” Named an All-Region player for the second consecutive year, Todd helped lead the Raiders to six (6) more wins than they had the previous year. Other accolades include his selection as the Tournament MVP at the Emerald Holiday Tournament, selection to the All-Tournament team at the FCA Tip-Off Tournament, second leading scorer and leading rebounder on the team, and he led the team in minutes played. Todd was the only player to start and play every single game this season. Walker summed up by saying, “Carson was the most consistent and solid performer during his senior season, all while being one of the top students at LDHS.” Academically, Todd was a star as well with a 5.167 cumulative (weighted) GPA and a class rank of fifth out of 349 students. Todd will be enjoying academic life as a student at the University of South Carolina next fall.
