Game Recap

The Laurens Raiders gave the Wade Hampton Generals quite a game on Friday night, but the Generals escaped with a 76-67 victory.
Wade Hampton, ranked the #1 5A team according to Maxpreps, started slowly out the gate as the Raiders jumped out to a quick 9-2 lead in the first two minutes. In a fast paced first quarter, the Generals managed to hold on to a slim 23-22 lead by the end of the first.
Due to three guards (Ty Foster, Justin Anderson and Josh Greene) picking up 3 fouls in the first half, the Generals went on a big run in the second quarter and held on to a 46-31 halftime lead.
The Raiders and Generals traded baskets the entire third quarter and the teams played an even 16-16 quarter.
In the fourth, it seemed like the Generals were going to blow the game open. The Generals held a 17 point lead with 3 minutes left in the game. Laurens went on a huge run to cut the lead to 4 in the final minute of the game. Forced to foul, the Raiders could get no closer.
Josh Greene led the Raiders with 19 points. Carson Todd and Christian Anderson added 11 for the Raiders. Justin Anderson had 10 points. Conner Dunlap and Zh’Rece Anderson each had 4 points. Ty Foster and Ryan Dacre had 3 points and Keenan Dickey had 2 points.
The Raiders are 4-11 overall, but 1-1 in the region. They take on Riverside at Riverside High on Tuesday, January 17th.
