Game Recap

While the Laurens Raiders struggled to a 3-10 non region record, none of that mattered tonight as the Laurens Raiders picked up a huge 62-54 win over Mauldin which moves them to 1-0 in the region.
The Raiders started the game quickly as they jumped out to a 15-8 lead. Six different Raiders scored in the opening quarter and the Raider defense was able to hold Mauldin to just 8 points.
In the second quarter the Raiders continued to take control of the game. Josh Greene had 7 points in the quarter and the Raiders scored another 15 and held Mauldin to just 11 to take a 30-19 lead into the half.
The game slowed down in the third quarter as the Raiders managed to just outscore the Mavericks 12-11 in the third quarter. Carson Todd had 4 points to lead the Raiders in the quarter.
In the final quarter the Laurens Raiders tried to take the air out of the ball to win the game. Initially due to turnovers and poor shot selection, the Raiders were not successful. Mauldin was able to get as close as 6, but they could get no closer. Justin Anderson made 12 of 14 points in the final quarter to ice the game. Ironically, despite trying to slow the game down the Raiders managed to score 20 points in the quarter, their highest in any quarter.
Carson Todd led all scorers with 15 points. Justin Anderson had 14 points. Josh Greene and Zh’Rece Anderson had 9. Ty Foster and Keenan Dickey had 4 points. Conner Dunlap had 3 points and Dravious Copeland had 2 points.
The Raiders are 4-10 overall but 1-0 and tied for first in region. The Raiders play Wade Hampton at home on Friday.
